Modelling of Chagas disease, health-care burden and access to care
Quantifying the burden of Chagas disease involves many challenges. This project aims to understand the heterogeneity in the force of infection, re-estimating disease progression and mortality rates and evaluate impact of interventions and healthcare costs. We are interested in evaluating progress in terms of vector control but also in terms of access to diagnosis and treatment strategies. For the initial part of the project we are focused in Colombia as a case study, but we are in the process of expanding the research to other Latin American countries.
