Dr Sakib Burza is a practicing clinician who completed a MSc in public health in developing countries in 2009, he returned to the LSHTM to work on diagnostic algorithms for NTDs in 2014.
From February 2016 he has been working as Medical Advisor, Asia for Medecins Sans Frontieres. He continues in an honourary capacity at the LSHTM as an honourary lecturer.
Long standing interest in the clinical aspects of leishmaniasis, and also NTDs in general. Also have conducted research in severe acute malnutrition and am interested in meliodosis.
Currently coordinating research studies on:
- RCT for treatments of HIV-Visceral Leishmaniasis coinfection in India
- Dengue diagnostic test validation
- Antropometric sensitivity and efficacy in severe acute malnutrition
- Evaluating new tools for improving diagnosis of childhood pneumonia
