Dr Adam Kucharski
Adam's research focuses on the dynamics of infectious diseases, particularly emerging and outbreak-prone infections.
Much of his work involves developing new mathematical and statistical approaches to understand the dynamics of infectious disease outbreaks. In particular, he is interested in how social behaviour and immunity shape disease transmission, and how knowledge of such processes can enhance surveillance and control measures. Adam's work covers emerging diseases – such as avian influenza, dengue, Ebola and Zika – as well as established infections like seasonal influenza.
This work is funded by a Wellcome Trust/Royal Society Sir Henry Dale Fellowship. From 2013–17, he held a Medical Research Council Career Development Award in Biostatistics.
