Alexandra Wharton-Smith
Alexandra is undertaking a PhD that is researching evidence-based medicine and how guidelines are used in practice; specifically in the management of dengue in Malaysia.
This PhD is funded by the Economic & Social Research Council through the Bloomsbury Doctoral Training Centre.
She holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Leeds and a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods from the Institute of Education, University College London. After completing a MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases at LSHTM, she worked for Malaria Consortium on projects related to integrated Community Case Management, malaria and pneumonia in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Alexandra designed and led qualitative studies with a range of stakeholder groups in those regions. She is proficient in Portuguese and Spanish and conversational in Bahasa Malaysia.
