Professor Sir Roy Anderson to step down at Director of the LCNTDR

Message from Professor Sir Roy Anderson.
 
I write to inform you that I will be stepping down as the Director of the London Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease Research at the conclusion of our anniversary event on the 31st March 2022.
 
I am immensely proud of the work of the Centre since it was founded in 2013. What started as a partnership between researchers between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Imperial College London, the Natural History Museum and the Royal Veterinary College has expanded to include a wide range of research institutions across London as well as associate membership for organisations in countries where NTDs are endemic.
 
I have had the great pleasure of acting as Director for LCNTDR since its foundation and working with a series of outstanding Centre managers - Alison Bettis, Justine Marshall and now Kathryn Forbes. I would also like to thank our Deputy Directors from the founding organisations, Rachel Pullen, Joanne Webster, Tim Littlewood and Lesley Drake.
 
I am delighted to share that Professor Joanne Webster at the Royal Veterinary College will take over as the Director of the Centre. Joanne has made huge contributions to the Centre and her research has increased understanding of the biology, evolution, epidemiology and control of NTDs, especially the schistosome infections. She has conducted pioneering work on Toxoplasma and its impact on various host species and her work on defining the importance of animal reservoirs via molecular epidemiological studies of the human and animal schistosome species has been instrumental in shifting much greater attention to the ‘One Health’ aspects of NTD control.
 
I hope you will all join us in celebrating the Centre’s anniversary on 31st March 2022 at the Royal Veterinary College, where Joanne will formally become the Director of the Centre.
