Rosie Maddren
Rosie is a field epidemiologist working on the Geshiyaro Project in Ethiopia, a soil-transmitted helminth and schistosomiasis transmission-break programme. The project, funded by the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), works alongside the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, the Federal Minisitry of Health, Simprints and World Visison. Together, the partners are working to analyse the impact of an improved MDA programme and WaSH interventions to break the transmission of intestinal worms.
Rosie has previous research experience focusing on the phylogenetic epidemiology of Chagas disease in Guatemala. Currently her research focuses on soil-transmitted helminths and schistosomiasis epidemiology and control, with the view to expand into spatial epidemiology by incorporating precision mapping and eDNA analysis to investigate the presence, if any, of high-risk transmission hotspots.
Rosie holds a Msc of Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from the Univeristy of Southampton.
