Dr Lynsey Blair
Lynsey Blair BSc, DPhil. Director of Implementation, Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI), School of Public Health
Dr Blair has worked in the field of schistosomiasis control for over 18 years, initially in innovative research to control transmission of disease at the University of Oxford and, since 2003, as a Programme Manager for the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative at Imperial College. She has extensive experience in multi-country settings across sub-Saharan Africa in the implementation of schistosomiasis and other NTD control programmes including interacting with multiple donors, international agencies and Governments, conducting advocacy meetings at all levels (international, national and sub-regional), and overseeing the implementation of large-scale drug administration. She also offers additional technical expertise in spatial mapping of disease distribution and the design and oversight of monitoring and evaluation surveys.
Lynsey is extensively involved in teaching within the college, lecturing on numerous BSc and MSc courses. She is also course convener for the final year Epidemiplogy module in the BSc Biology and Biochemistry degrees. In addition, she regularly supervises medical students to undertake field based research projects in Africa as part of the BSc in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, along with MSc Epidemiology and BSc Biology students in data analysis projects.
