Alastair began his PhD at LSHTM in 2016 on the mathematical models of vector borne diseases in the Pacific.
His doctoral project focusses on the dynamics of dengue and Zika virus transmission in the Pacific Island countries and territories. He is studying individual island epidemics and also modelling transmission in the wider Pacific region to better understand how these mosquito-borne viruses transmit within and between islands.
He completed a MSc in Medical Statistics at LSHTM in 2016 having previously studied Economics at Cardiff University (2010-2013) and worked at the Office for National Statistics.
His PhD is funded by the MRC London Intercollegiate Doctoral Training Partnership between LSHTM and St George’s University.
