Tansy Edwards

 Tansy is a medical statistician with a focus on the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases, and particular emphasis on the evaluation of treatment and intervention strategies for neglected tropical diseases.

She has been based at LSHTM since 2003 working within the Tropical Epidemiology Group (http://teg.lshtm.ac.uk/), a group of statistical epidemiologists specialising in studies on the epidemiology and control of major public health problems of developing countries, in particular Africa and Asia, with a major focus on HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases, and a special emphasis on intervention studies. 

Tansy works mainly on research projects relating to trachoma and visceral leishmaniasis. Her main interests lie in the design and analysis of cluster randomised trials of mass drug administration for control of neglected tropical diseases and multi-centre individually randomised trials of new treatments for visceral leishmaniasis. She also has experience in the design and analysis of large scale epidemiological studies. She is a co-investigator and statistician on two treatment trials of convalescent plasma for Ebola Virus Disease in Guinea (www.ebolatx.eu) and Sierra Leone.
