3:00 - 5:50 PM
Neil Chalmers Room, Natural History Museum
Join the LCNTDR for an afternoon of research presentations hosted by the Natural History Museum.
The research afternoon will be focusing on the genetic diversity of the pathogens responsible for neglected tropical diseases and how greater knowledge of this diversity can be a vital tool to their control. A full programme will be circulated once finalised.
Researchers presenting
- Stefano Catalano, RVC - Wild rodents and their role in the epidemiology of human schistosomiasis in Senegal
- Harry Pickering, LSHTM - The role of C. trachomatis genetic diversity in trachoma
- Tapan Bhattacharyya, LSHTM- Trypanosoma cruzi genetic diversity and severity of chagasic cardiomyopathy
- Tegwen Marlais, LSHTM - Exploiting genetic diversity for development of strongyloidiasis diagnostics
- Stephen Doyle, Sanger Institute - Population genomics of anthelmintic response in Onchocerca volvulus
- Tom Pennance, NHM - Genetic epidemiology of schistosomes and Bulinus snails in Niger
- Aidan Emery, NHM- Biorepositories and genetic resources for NTD research
- David Mateus, LSHTM - Genetic crosses of Leishmania in two sand fly species, and implications of progeny diversity
A networking session will be held directly following the event (at a TBD location near South Kensington tube station).
